Goal of the Hood

A street-football roguelike.

  • A caged five-a-side pitch between tower blocks at dusk, a match under way, washing and flags on the balconies.
    The Cage
  • A dark court in a square of painted houses, strings of paper flags overhead, a crowd along the fence.
    Mexico City
  • A floodlit red pitch by the harbour at night, among corrugated houses painted in blocks of colour, a goat and a number 10 on the wall behind the goal.
    La Boca
  • A bright pitch on the roof of a city block at dusk, lit office towers behind it.
    Tokyo
  • A pitch laid across zinc rooftops at sunset, chimneys and mansard windows around it, a tower on the skyline.
    Paris
  • A match on a frozen outdoor rink in a snowy pine forest under a green aurora.
    The Rink

Five-a-side in a cage, with boards where the touchlines should be. The ball never goes out: it comes back off the wall, and so does everything else.

You start on your own estate and take the club on a world tour of street pitches: a painted square in Mexico City, a rooftop in Tokyo, a frozen rink, the roofs of Paris. Every run you build the squad again from what the road gives you.

The ball and the players are physically simulated. The nets can tear.

about

lastoz is an independent game studio in Istanbul.

Read the name as the last ounce. Most of a game comes together quickly. The last ounce takes as long as everything before it, and it is the part you can feel in your hands. That is the part we are here for.

There is no roadmap here and no newsletter. When a game is ready, it will be on this page.
